The film marks Jiri Kylian’s first venture into choreographing specifically for the camera. Shot on 16mm film with a specially composed score and music from Vivaldi.
WATERMARK was filmed on locations (both wet and dry) around The Hague including the huge white atrium of the Town Hall. The performers, described by Kylian as ‘aged between forty and death,’ bring a wealth of experience and great spirituality to the film.
A waterfall of heads, a ripple of goldfish, an underwater tango and a soul lost at sea. WATERMARK is a film full of love and pathos, humour and humanity.
